Central Philippine University (also referred to as Central or CPU) is a private research university in Iloilo City, Philippines. It was established in 1905 through a grant given by the American business magnate, industrialist and philanthropist John D. The school for boys became a junior college and started offering college degrees in 1923 and changed its name to Central Philippine College. Later, the Bible School merged and became the theology department of the junior college in the following year in 1924.
